Founded in 1938, Junior Welfare Association is a nonprofit service organization of women dedicated to improving the economic, educational, and social well-being of the Macon County community through volunteer service and financial assistance.
Our signature program, the Deborah Collier Memorial Shoe Fund, provides shoes, socks, and undergarments to children in need, ensuring every child can walk forward with dignity and confidence.
Beyond our signature program, JWA is honored to support students and community initiatives through grants and scholarships that directly benefit the youth of Macon County.
In 2025, JWA distributed $8,000 in scholarships and grants, directly supporting 8 Macon County schools and 8 Community Organizations and School Projects.
For more than 85 years, JWA has been supported by
a 100% volunteer-based community of women working together
to create lasting, meaningful change in the Greater Decatur area.
